ADVOCACY ALERT: Gillibrand Amendment

Contact Senators McCaskill and Blunt to have them sponsor the Gillibrand Amendment to restore the SNAP cut included in the Farm Bill.

Text for Senator McCaskill

Email to: Gary Gorski at Gary_Gorski@McCaskill.senate.gov

Dear Mr. Gorski,

As Senator McCaskill's constituent, I am deeply concerned about the $4.1 billion in SNAP cuts included in the farm bill that passed out of committee this week. I understand that the bill may go to the floor as early as next week.

Senator Gillibrand will offer an amendment to restore the SNAP cut included in the bill, and we are counting on Senator McCaskill for support. We deeply appreciate you signing onto the Gillibrand letter calling for full funding for SNAP, and I am hopeful that the senator will cosponsor the amendment.

In our state, over 1 million Missourians struggle with food insecurity, or not knowing where their next meal will come from, and 316,000 of those are children. Cutting SNAP will cause our friends and neighbors to lose access to the nutritious foods they need to thrive. Please consider supporting this amendment and saving funding for this vital nutrition assistance program.

The deadline to cosponsor is Monday, May 20. The contact is Kathryn Tanner: Kathryn_Tanner@Gillibrand.senate.gov.

Thank you for taking time to consider my request.
