HHonoring Those Who Have Helped Us Along the Way

At our Best Part Ever we will be honoring three humanitarians who have helped to shape Second Harvest over the last 30 years.

Scott Hillyard profile picture

Scott Hillyard, executive vice president, Hillyard Inc. has played a huge role in helping Second Harvest Community Food Bank. Hillyard served on the board from 1993-2000 and held the role of vice president. He was also chairman of the Capital Campaign Committee that helped acquire the current location of the Second Harvest office and warehouse.

When asked how it felt to be given the Humanitarian award Hillyard had this to say, "It is a very nice honor and I am pleased to have played a small role in carrying forward the mission of Second Harvest."

 

Dan Hegeman profile picture

Dan Hegeman, north district community affairs manager, KCP&L played a vital role at Second Harvest where he served on the board of directors from 2002-2008. He held the roles of vice president and president.

When asked about being honored as a Humanitarian, Hegeman said, "It’s great to be honored and recognized in the community for my efforts to end hunger in Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas."

 

Joe Mazur profile picture

Joe Mazur has been a busy man over the course of a lifetime and still is. Mazur was a great asset to Second Harvest. He was on the board of directors for six years and was involved in the process to hire a previous director.

When asked how it felt to be selected to be a Humanitarian Mazur responded with a simple answer. "It’s a very nice honor," Mazur said. "Surprised."
