Too often folks’ biggest misconception is that their donation won’t go very far. They often think a dollar won’t make a difference, but nothing could be further from the truth. For every $1 donated, Second Harvest can provide nearly 3 meals to families in need. In 2011, Second Harvest distributed over 4.3 million pounds of food to children, families and seniors in need of emergency food assistance. Each year, the Feeding America network of food banks distributes 3 billion pounds of food and grocery products to support feeding programs at more than 62,000 local charitable agencies, including food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, after-school programs and Kid’s Cafes.
Every dollar, every can of food, is one more step towards ending hunger in our community. Second Harvest would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to all of those whose donations make our work possible every single day. Together, we can provide hope to families facing hunger.
Thank you.
