Leavenworth Backpack Buddies Program Serves More Than 600 Students

Read about how the community of Leavenworth is working hard to fight hunger:

Once a month, food is delivered from the Second Harvest Community Food Bank to Studdard’s Moving in Leavenworth. Volunteers gather there to sort the food items into the appropriate quantities for each school. From there, employees of Studdard’s Moving deliver the food to local churches and civic groups who pack each individual student’s food for the month.

Nodaway County Organization Hosts 5K on September 27 to Feed Children

On Sept. 27, the Northwest Student Dietetic Association will sponsor its fourth 5k Community Fun Run/Walk run with the Northwest Fitness Center to benefit Backpack buddies.


5th Annual Bluegrass Battles Hunger Benefit Event September 26-27

Bluegrass Battles Hunger is free and open to the public. Patrons are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items and cash donations for Second Harvest Community Food Bank, which supports hunger relief agencies in Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas.
