Close the Gap was created to provide better access to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly called food stamps.) through the assistance of two fulltime Food Security Coordinators. Close the Gap is made possible through the Missouri Promoting Food Security Program. In its first year, the program enrolled 610 individuals onto SNAP, resulting in a total of $1,873,639 in SNAP benefits. This had an economic impact of $3,353,815 on the regional economy and provided 774,231 meals to families.
