As the holiday season begins to take off I’m reminded of some traditions my family holds dear to their heart. Each year we take turns picking out that special dated ornament to add to the tree. The minute we start talking about putting up the tree it’s funny how each child (and the children at heart) believe without a doubt that it is their year to pick out the ornament. My favorite tradition is going to Candle Light Christmas Eve service at our church. The church is covered in this golden hue from the candles and evergreen smells linger throughout the church. The Christmas Tree is all a glow in the corner and the Nativity Scene is placed in its special place at the front of the church. After Pastor tells the story of Christ’s birth the Praise Team leads us in singing Christmas Carols and the evening ends with everyone lighting a candle.
As my kids have gotten older some of our traditions have faded and new traditions have been started. Our newest tradition is giving to a local non-profit who can help those in need. Second Harvest is our non-profit of choice. We believe in feeding new traditions!
As #GivingTuesday approaches I encourage you and your family to Feed New Traditions by donating to help the 54,000 individuals and families in need throughout the Second Harvest Community Food Bank 19 county service area. Your $10 donation will help provide 30 meals.
