Development Specialist

Primary Functions of the Position:  To provide fundraising and marketing support and to assist in the capturing, handling and distributing food in the 19 counties we serve by obtaining grants through the Feeding America network and related sources.  To be a community advocate that hunger is unacceptable. To uphold and achieve success through our mission, vision and values.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and administer a grant funding program to support Second Harvest Community Food Bank, including:

  • Research, submit, manage and coordinate grant opportunities within the Feeding America network and outside the network
  • Assist with events and all fundraising activities
  • Perform fundraising analysis for variables which impact all giving programs
  • Assist Chief Development Officer in building the Legacy Giving program
  • Ensure positional, company and departmental goals are being achieved
  • Ensure a safe, respectful, and ethical environment for all donors, staff, volunteers, and members
  • All other duties as assigned

Adhere to all policies and standards set forth by Second Harvest Community Food Bank in accordance to Feeding America standards, in addition to local, state, and federal regulation

 

Position Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience to perform the necessary functions of the job required
  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in public relations, marketing, or similar field preferred
  • Specialized training in grants and fund development
  • Ability to work independently and as a team to meet goals and objectives
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
