Community Outreach Coordinator

Second Harvest Community Food Bank located in St. Joseph, MO is seeking to fill the position of Community Outreach Coordinator. This position will manage and coordinate the capture, safe handling, and distribution of food through Second Harvest’s Partner Agencies and Fresh Mobile Pantry in fulfilling the organization’s mission to fight food insecurities within the organization’s  19-county service territory serving Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas.


Seeking Candidates with:

  • Demonstrated experience to perform the necessary functions of the job required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as a team to meet goals and objectives
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage Partner Agency relations and Fresh Mobile Pantry to support Second Harvest Community Food Bank, including:
  • Coordinate agency compliance efforts to ensure Partner Agencies meet all organizational and Feeding America requirements
  • Review inactive community Partner Agencies to determine status and improve participation through goal setting and increased activity
  • Communicate with agencies regarding available product, nutrition, laws, or other pertinent information
  • Schedule, implement, and maintain Mobile Food Pantry operations and reporting requirements
  • Conduct and complete SNAP applications
  • Assist with other Second Harvest direct service program initiatives including, but not limited to, No Hunger Summer, Yellow Cards, and Fresh Start as needed
  • Ensure positional, company, and departmental goals are being achieved
  • Ensure a safe, respectful, and ethical environment for all donors, staff, volunteers, and members
  • All other duties assigned
