Second Harvest Community Food Bank’s mobile food program, Fresh Mobile Pantry, has continued to grow since launching in the summer of 2016. So much so that Second Harvest has begun incorporating what is now known as ‘Pop-Up Mobiles.’
Each month there are 2 to 3 days in which Second Harvest does not have a scheduled Fresh Mobile Pantry location. Thus, creating the opportunity to look at compiled data and evaluate which locations this new program should be utilized in. Since the creation of this program, July 2018, Second Harvest has held a Pop-Up Mobile in Maysville, MO, Union Star, MO, King City, MO, Stewartsville, MO and Lathrop, MO.
With the program allowing for these individuals to obtain much needed fresh produce and lean protein that otherwise would go without.
“Without Second Harvest I wouldn’t be able to have fresh produce,” Senior, Joyce Turner said, “I couldn’t afford it.”
As the Pop-Up Mobile program continues on, Second Harvest will continue to evaluate what locations can make the most impact within the communities served.
